Telethon 36 Hour MegaScrap

A very big thank you to all the staff, customers, friends and families for all their time, donations of food, cash and prizes, laughter and making our Telethon Mega Scrap a fantastic event. We have smashed our target of $1000 and are currently at $2000 with more to come. If you have been contacted with regard to winning of the silent auctions please call in store for payment and collection by no later than this Friday 31st October. A HUGE thank you once again!

Telethon 2014

We are all feeling very excited about our 36 hour Telethon Mega Scrap and are very proud to raise money for such a worthwhile charity. For those of you who are new to Western Australia or unsure what Telethon is all about here is an excerpt off their website........

"Telethon is the highest fundraising Telethon (per capita) in the world and we're proud of that, so we've lined up a huge list of 7 Network personalities and some of the hottest acts around to entertain you and encourage you to donate over the Telethon Weekend October 25 & 26 on Channel 7 and GWN7 across Western Australia.
Stars from Sunrise, Home & Away, Winners & Losers and X-Factor will all be making their way to Perth for the weekend.

The Channel 7 Telethon Trust is a registered charitable trust that has a philosophy to financially support the medical and social welfare of children and young people, and to fund research into children’s diseases.

Since the first Telethon on Channel 7 on November 29 1968, Telethon has raised over $154 million and provided much needed financial assistance to a significant number of charitable organisations, children's hospitals and research/medical facilities in Western Australia.

The Trust operates separately from Channel 7, with a Board of Trustees and a small team in the Telethon Office based at Channel 7's studios in Perth.

Telethon exists on a day to day basis because of the generosity of Seven West Media including Channel Seven Perth and The West Australian. Both provide the Trust with tangible and intangible support through infrastructure facilities, service and professional advice.

The Telethon Weekend live 26 hour appeal is held at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre and is televised on Channel 7 Perth and on GWN7 throughout Regional WA.

The Telethon team vigorously fundraises across twelve months a year with a varied and exciting schedule of projects supported by commercial partnerships.

The charity has received long standing support from leading Western Australian companies such as the JWH Group, which builds the Telethon Metropolitan and Regional Homes each year through In-Vogue and Country Builders WA.

BankWest supports Telethon through its service centres which facilitate the collection of donations after the Telethon weekend as well as sponsoring "The Telethon Diary" the weekly update on Channel 7 that keeps viewers up to date with Telethon events.

The Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre enables Telethon to bring the fun and excitement to Perth families by providing the venue for the television broadcast, the Beneficiaries Expo, and the Coles Kids’ Carnival. AV Partners, Perth Expo Hire and Clifton Perth provide an enormous amount of infrastructure and facilities for the Telethon Weekend. The Sunday Times provides editorial support across the year, as well as providing invaluable support by hosting the Phone Room across the Telethon Weekend each year. Without their support we wouldn't have anywhere for over 1,200 volunteers to go to answer donation calls over the weekend.

Our regional television partner, GWN7 broadcasts Telethon across Australia's largest state, from the Kimberleys in the north to Esperance in the South. GWN7 also assists Telethon in regional fundraising projects. "

Telethon Silent Auctions are now in store. For your chance to bid on lots of different prizes including this wonderful gift pack kindly donated by Dusty Attic, $100 Rockingham City Gift Voucher, Carpet Cleaning Voucher, Pre Made Layouts, scrapbooking gift packs and lots more please call in store and make a bid. It's as simple as writing your price and name down & the highest bidder on the list after the Telethon weekend, Sunday 26th October at 5:00pm, will take the prize home. All winners of the silent auctions will be required to pay and collect the goods in store by Friday 31st October. All bids accepted, no matter how big or small. November Class Calendar & Sneak Peeks

The countdown to Telethon is now on. In just 2 weeks a wonderful group of ladies will undertake a mammoth task to Scrap around the clock in the classroom for a 36 hour period to raise funds for a very worthwhile charity. A number of customers have contacted the shop asking how can they help out? There are many ways you can contribute to making this a successful event:

1. Book a seat at the Telethon Mega Scrap. Tickets are $30 each per 12 hour shift with all proceeds going to Telethon

Saturday 9am-9pm (1 vacancy left)

Saturday 9pm – Sunday 9am (8 vacancies left)

Sunday 9am- 9pm (6 vacancies left)

2. Donation of food

Food is needed to fuel the crafty ladies so if you are able to make a plate of food or purchase a cake etc…. we would love to hear from you. If you are making goods please don’t forget to provide on a piece of paper the ingredients used so that we can address any food allergies.

Please contact the shop and list your name with the items that you would like to supply and the date and approximate time that you would be delivering the goods.

3. Donation of goods

We are now asking our customers who wish to donate goods towards the silent auctions or to be used as give aways or silent auctions on the day.

4. Bidding on Silent Auctions

On Monday 20^th October the silent auctions will be placed on the table near the front counter. The Prizes range from Gift Vouchers through to Major Prizes. The value of each of these prizes will be listed and customers are welcome to bid silently with the item going to the highest bidder as of 5pm on Sunday 26^th October. All winners of the silent auctions will be required to pay and collect the goods in store between Monday 27^th – Friday 31^st October. 100% of all monies raised from the silent auction prizes will go directly to Telethon.

5. Donations of cash can be placed in the Telethon donation tins at the front counter. These tins will go directly to telethon and be counted by the charity.

To the ladies who have booked in to this special event we wish you all the very best and don’t forget to dress up. The idea of the dress up is to have fun so you may wish to come as a clown, dress up as a medical person, as a child or even a ONESIE.

Please note that the shop will operate according to normal trading hours and the doors will NOT be open to the public outside of these hours.

We have had so much new stock arrive in the last week from Simple Strories, Bo Bunny, Graphic 45, Webster’s, Kaiser and Couture Creations Dies and embossing folders. The long wall in the shop has been revamped and is totally full of new stock. Following customers feedback we have installed a section for stampers in the long wall. We need more dies I hear you say…. Then pop in store as the Couture Creations and Kaiser dies have arrived. Don’t forget if you purchase a Couture Creations Christmas die or embossing folders to ask the lovely staff for a copy of the Couture Creations Christmas glossy magazine.

The Kaisercraft catalogue for stock arriving in store during November, December and January is now available to view. Should you wish to view the catalogue of new Kaisercraft lines coming soon please ask the friendly staff at the front counter. Pre orders are being taken to guarantee your stock so please pre order to avoid disappointment.

The short feature wall is full of Christmas stock and the card ladies are madly creating their unique designs ready to get them in the post on time.

The Design Team have been creating some beautiful projects which are now up on show for November. Pop in store and have a look at the stunning layouts, off the page projects and classes. Please do not hesitate to book as these classes are already filling as some of the items have been on display for a couple of weeks.

VIP NIGHT Friday 14TH NOVEMBER 7-9PM - INVITATION ONLY

Spend $50 in store between the 15th October - 30th October and receive a ticket to go into the draw for the next VIP Night. Centre Management will draw 20 lucky customers names from the entries and those ladies will be notified on Monday 3rd November. Good luck ladies!
